Ова зграда је првобитно направљена за потребе српске војске, касније је обновљена у балканском стилу, а данас је у њој смештен Завод за заштиту споменика културе. Налази се на сјајном месту - на узвишењу са кога се пружа диван поглед на Победника, Ушће и Нови Београд. На пропланку поред ове зграде годинама у трави леже неке од надгробних плоча. Права је штета што нису лепо груписане и постављене како им доликује.

The Institute for Protection of Cultural Monuments in Belgrade, housed within a historic structure at Kalemegdan Fortress, carries a rich tapestry of history woven into its walls. Originally built in the late 19th century for the Serbian army, the building endured significant damage during World War I before undergoing reconstruction between 1923 and 1927. This revival introduced Baroque-style embellishments, layering ornate details over its military-industrial foundations. Its storied past includes a chapter as part of the Military Museum, hosting an exhibition on the 1934 assassination of King Aleksandar in Marseille. A similar, older building once stood opposite the iconic “Victor” monument, serving as the Military Museum’s home until its demolition in the late 1950s. Since 1960, the institute has occupied this space, its mission rooted in safeguarding Serbia’s cultural legacy. The architecture, a blend of austere military origins and Baroque revival flourishes, stands as a visual chronicle of the city’s resilience. Perched within the fortress, it commands breathtaking views of the Sava and Danube rivers merging below, while across the water, New Belgrade’s stark concrete skyline stretches into the horizon. This vantage point bridges Belgrade’s turbulent history with its modernist ambitions. Today, the institute’s understated yet dignified presence reflects its dual role: a custodian of the past and a silent witness to the evolving urban landscape. Visitors here encounter not just an architectural hybrid but a living archive where history, memory, and preservation converge against a backdrop of timeless natural beauty.
