Henkel's factory in Kruševac has been successfully certified according to the ISO 50.001, the new international standard for efficient energy management, whereas fulfillment of the highest requirements was confirmed by the inspectors of the Austrian society for quality managment certification (ÖQS - Quality Austria).
Once the Henkel's facilities in Poland have been certified according to the ISO 50.001 standard, it has been decided for such system to be introduced in Kruševac as well, aiming for greater energy savings.
During the period from 2007 to 2011, Henkel has managed to reduce energy consumption at the plant by 31 percent, due to modernization of the powder detergent facility, the construction of a new steam generation facility and the improvement of building use were the most important measures taken to make this reduction possible in the first place.
"Henkel is always managing its operations in accordance with ecological principles and is continuously investing in new technologies and responsible business as one of its core values. We cherished those values from the very beginning of our business in Serbia and this will be our priority in the future. Our team of top qualified managers is running the business according to the international standards and the successful certification according to ISO 50.001 is just one of many indicators that we are on right path. Our business operations are based on the precise and accurate goals, therefore our efforts are recognized", explains plant manager Ferenc Erdei.
Amongs other initiatives, a local energy team was established to systematically evaluate all processes with respect to their improvement potential. The team is led by plant manager, Ferenc Erdei. „We have still got a long way to go in implementing all potential optimization measures. It is fantastic to see the ideas which are generated by the staff. Achieving more with less is not only a slogan for us, but our daily bread”, he states.
The successful certification according to ISO 50.001 in cooperation with the Austrian society for quality management certification underscores the continuing and responsible further development of the site. Henkel wants to further save resources and thus improve efficiency in all these areas.
In the past decade, since its arrival to Serbia, Henkel has not only massively invested in a modern energy supply and production technologies, but also in its entire team. Today, the factory fulfills the high safety and environmental standards which Henkel has defined globally. This serves as the basis for an extraordinarily successful sustainability balance sheet at the plant
