NATO is unlikely to extend a MAP to Bosnia

Bosnia's efforts to get MAP, an essential stepping stone on the road toward full membership in the alliance, are strongly opposed by Germany, United States, Holland and France.

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is unlikely to extend a Membership Action Plan (MAP) to Bosnia during an informal meeting of its member countries' foreign ministers in Tallinn next April.

Bosnia's efforts to get MAP, an essential stepping stone on the road toward full membership in the alliance, are strongly opposed by Germany, United States, Holland and France.

The four countries insist that Bosnia must achieve concrete progress in reforming its constitution before being granted MAP.
