EC provides EUR 200 mln for Nabucco pipeline

The European Commission has granted 2.3 million euro for 43 projects intended to enhance the energy security of the EU member states. Among them are the gas links between Bulgaria, Romania and Greece.

The European Commission has granted 2.3 million euro for 43 projects intended to enhance the energy security of the EU member states. Among them are the gas links between Bulgaria, Romania and Greece.

Bulgaria will receive funding also for the Nabucco gas pipeline. Bulgaria and Greece are to receive 45 million euro for the task of interconnecting their gas transportation systems, the EC announced.

For the same purpose, Bulgaria and Romania will receive 9 mln euro. The EC will grant 200 mln euro the start of the initial funding of the Nabucco project.

They will be allocated to the countries through which it passes – Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Austria and Germany.

The funds must be absorbed by the contractors under the projects in the coming year and a half.
