Romania: Code Yellow advisory for heavy snowfalls on Friday and Saturday

The National Meteorology Administration (ANM) on Thursday issued a Code Yellow alert for snowfalls, wind strengthening and frozen weather for 21 counties and to stay valid between March 5, 2:00 p.m. - March 6, 8:00 p.m.

During the aforementioned time span, the weather will get colder, and precipitations are expected to fall in all country regions.

According to the ANM, in eastern Transylvania (Romanian central-western region), most of Moldova (eastern region), the rolling hills of Oltenia (south) and Muntenia (south), there will prevail the snowfalls with the snow layer to grow thick.

Temporarily, the wind will gust, even stronger on Saturday, while the mountains and the Moldova region will be hit by blizzards.

ANM specified that precipitations will fall as rain in the beginning and then they will turn into sleet.
