Bulgaria and Qatar to create an international investment company

Bulgaria and Qatar will work on and implement joint projects in the field of energy, infrastructure, tourism, agriculture and training of experts. For this purpose, a joint Bulgarian-Qatar company fo investments will be created, and the joint interstate committee is to start work within two weeks.

This was announced by Bulgarian PM Boyko Borissov at a joint press conference in Doha after meeting Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabr al-Thani. The Bulgarian PM is on a three-day official visit to Qatar and Kuwait.

“Investments in Bulgaria are a guarantee for the return of the investments and I think that they will be profitable for both sides”, PM Borissov stated at the joint press conference after the talks.

“We have not discussed concrete amount of investments but Qatar is ready to invest in Bulgaria”, PM of Qatar confirmed.

“The visit of the Bulgarian prime-minister and the Bulgarian delegation strengthens the traditionally good ties between our two countries”, PM Sheikh al-Thani said.

The two countries signed a memorandum of co-operation in the energy sector. The memorandum is a basis for future negotiations for prospecting, extraction, transportation and supply of energy resources as well as for the construction of the necessary infrastructure to do this.

Also, an intergovernmental agreement for double taxation avoidance was signed.
