Reduction of duty and excise tax for vehicles has triggered desired effects. Over 3,500 vehicles have been imported till yesterday, which is identical with the number of used cars imported in an entire year, Vice Premier and Finance Minister Zoran Stavreski said Tuesday.

Reduction of duty and excise tax for vehicles has triggered desired effects. Over 3,500 vehicles have been imported till yesterday, which is identical with the number of used cars imported in an entire year, Vice Premier and Finance Minister Zoran Stavreski said Tuesday.

- I believe the measure has achieved positive effects - not only the citizens have the chance to import cars at lower costs, but also those owning cars with foreign register plates have the ability to register them, Stavreski told reporters.

He noted that budget revenues were solid - total revenues are approximately Euro 2,5 million. - However, this is of less importance, given the fact that the goal to awake the market and to lower the prices of new vehicles is met, Minister Stavreski added.

When asked to reveal the cost of today's Tree Day campaign, the Vice PM said that majority of the activities were taking place based on regular efforts made by ministries, state institutions and public enterprises, adding that additional funds would not be paid.

- Denar 50 million were budgeted in the Ministry of Agriculture and these funds will be used to pay for the trees for which "Macedonian Forests" public enterprise was in charge, Stavreski stressed.
