The 19-year-long name dispute might be on the road to solution. In light of new talks between 'former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia' and Greece, a solution seems to emerge, reports the Swedish Radio.
The name row has prevented fyRoM from joining NATO and start EU accession talks. According to the radio, mediated talks have lasted for a long time, but name 'Northern Macedonia' could be the solution.
Countries' leaders have officially said they would welcome a solution as soon as possible, so that economic cooperation between the two neighbors enhances.
The Swedish radio says both parties would meet in mid-April, whereas a settlement could be reached by June.
"The country with a yellow sun on a red flag is named fyRoM in the UN, while the struggle to be called Republic of Macedonia has lasted since its accession to the world organization, after the break-up of former Yugoslavia. However, Greece refuses that some other area bears the name other than the Greek region of Macedonia", reports the Swedish radio.
