The republic of Srpska Government will mark today the anniversary since the demise of Yugoslab People’s Army soldiers in the Dobrovoljacka street in Sarajevo, back in 1992.

The event envisages a peaceful walk of half an hour through the street, while carrying burning candles, and followed by the memorial service in the local church.

The gathering will be secured by the cantonal police, despite the opposition of Sarajevo authorities. In 1992 in Sarajevo, 42 soldiers of then Yugoslav People’s Army were killed in an ambush, while 73 were wounded and 215 taken prisoners, although they had been retreating from the city, in accordance to the previous agreement.

So far, nobody has been held responsible for that crime. Due to a grounded suspicion of taking part in that crime, Serbia issued warrants in 2009 for 19 people from Bosnia-Herzegovina, including a member of the wartime Presidency of that country Ejup Ganic, who has recently been arrested in London.
