The Bulgarian government delegation led by Bulgaria PM Boyko Borisov was met at Rome Ciampino Airport by an upside down Bulgarian tricolor.

Italy PM Silvio Berlusconi stated that the Russian backed South Stream natural gas pipeline is a priority for the talks between the Italian and Bulgarian delegations.

He continued by praising Borisov by saying that he is one of the most coveted European politicians and adding that Italy strongly supports Bulgaria’s entry into the Schengen area in 2011.

Berlusconi concluded that he had told Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov that Bulgaria’s possible involvement in the missile defense shield posed no threat to Russia.
