European Parliament special rapporteur on Bosnia-Herzegovina and Albania visa liberalization, Tanja Fajon said the visa-free regime for citizens of the two countries could be expected this fall and certainly by the year-end.
"If conditions are met, I believe it is realistic to expect this decision at the beginning of fall, but certainly by the year-end", said Fajon.
In her latest draft-report, Fajon reminds European institutions that when approving the visa-free regime for Macedonia, Serbia and Montenegro, they committed to 'urgently' solve the B&H and Albania issue.
In line with the European Commission and the European Parliament opinion, MEP Fajon calls the EU Council of Ministers to approve the B&H and Albania visa liberalization as soon as possible, i.e. after the EC issues the final assessment of its expert missions at the beginning of September.
Tirana and Sarajevo are urged to accelerate reforms in judiciary and invest more efforts in fight against organized crime.
