Seventy per cent of Croatians would like to find an additional job in order to cover their basic expenses, a survey by job portal posao.hr shows.
Up to 76 per cent said they would use their vacation time for extra work, while 89 per cent are willing to perform a job that is below their intellectual and professional abilities if it is well-paid.
The portal surveyed 1,254 visitors, the majority of them between the ages of 25 and 34 from Zagreb and Zagreb County.
The results also show that despite the large interest in taking on extra work, only 12 per cent of those surveyed had a job in addition to their regular one, the Croatian news portal Index writes.
A significant number of those surveyed (43 per cent) are dissatisfied with their income, while only six per cent are satisfied. Thirty five per cent say that their income is sufficient for covering only their basic needs such as housing and food.
One fifth of those surveyed cannot cover their basics with their income, and only a third can fully cover them.
The main motivation for finding additional work for most is extra income (55 per cent), acquiring new experience (23 per cent), learning something new (18 per cent) and fun (four per cent).
The majority (57 per cent) would spend their additional earnings on expenses such as clothing, education, internet and phone, while more than a fifth (21 per cent) would use the extra income exclusively for basic necessities.
