The Ohrid Framework Agreement, is a specific Macedonian model of multiethnic society based on integration without assimilation, founded on the country's tradition of mutual respect among ethnic communities, said President Gjorge Ivanov at Friday's debate "Ohrid Framework Agreement Today and in Perspective".
The Ohrid Framework Agreement, created to overcome hostilities in the Republic of Macedonia, is a specific Macedonian model of multiethnic society based on integration without assimilation, founded on the country's tradition of mutual respect among ethnic communities, said President Gjorge Ivanov at Friday's debate "Ohrid Framework Agreement Today and in Perspective".
Ivanov stressed the model is an open project, including the requirements of each generation, which makes it dynamic.
"Achievements regarding its implementation in past nine years are tangible, but its complete implementation costs a lot. Its full functionality requires a US$ 8,000 GDP per capita, with Macedonia's only being half of this amount", said President Ivanov.
According to him, the full implementation of the Framework Agreement (FA) is regarded as a condition for the country's Euro-Atlantic integration. What Macedonia did 10 years ago is now a trend at global level, as all societies are becoming multiethnic, Ivanov said.
Abdulakim Ademi, Vice-Premier in charge of the FA implementation, said the accord had not only put an end to the conflict, but also stabilized Macedonia and contributed to the country's efforts towards the European Union, NATO membership. Its implementation is one of the Government's priorities and it will keep working to that effect, Ademi said
