Statement by PM Berisha on Himara event
In response to media interest on the event of two days ago when a 35 year old man lost his life in Himara, PM Berisha said he considers that an ugly act that deserves condemnation.
PM Berisha said:
“The assassination of a man in every circumstance, but intentionally consists of an ugly crime that deserves condemnation. The motifs, if what is claimed is backed by facts, are even uglier.
The government constantly demands from the organs of the public order to make every effort and bring the perpetrator of this crime to justice. I reiterate that if what the media organs and other people claim are confirmed by facts, then it adds to the heinousness of this crime.
It would be a gesture of extremely blind fanaticism. I don’t believe there is any Albania not being aware of the fact that the local community in Himara town is bilingual and it has been so even 100 or 200 years ago.
It is very grave to react in the preferred language because it happens like this. However, it is up to the justice to investigate.
The organs of the public order should bring the perpetrator to justice. I take the opportunity, even after being in touch with the Mayor, to convey my condolences to the bereaved family because it’s rather ugly to kill someone on his way back home. This is a barbarous act.”
