A group of Serbs from Croatia sued the U.S. private military consulting firm MPRI because it allegedly equipped, trained and developed a plan of the Croatian Operation Storm in 1995, writes the Zagreb Vecernji List Daily.
At the federal court in Chicago, prosecutors seek damages worth billions of dollars. The complaint alleges that the goal of "Storm" was the forcible expulsion of ethnic minority groups.
Military Professional Resources Incorporated (MPRI) founded in 1987 by eight former members of the U.S. Army, and acquisitioned by the firm L-3 Communications in 2000, is mentioned as a participant in the genocide.
Operation "Storm" has become the biggest ground offensive in Europe since World War II.
It resulted in murder and inhumane treatment of thousands of Serbs, the forcible expulsion of 250,000 Serbs from their centuries-long homes, looting and destruction of their property worth hundreds of millions of dollars, read the charges.
It is emphasized that at a meeting with representatives of MPRI in late 1994, when a multi-million contract was allegedly concluded with this company, the then Croatian Defense Minister Gojko Susak said he wanted to expel the Serbs from Krajina.
