Conference on media, beliefs and religion to be held in Ohrid

The role of the media in fostering intercultural dialogue will be at the centre of discussions between some 150 participants from all over Europe, experts, academics, media professionals, religious leaders from various origins, representatives of non confessional-communities.
The role of the media in fostering intercultural dialogue, tolerance and mutual understanding: freedom of expression of the media and respect towards cultural and religious diversity” will be at the centre of discussions between some 150 participants from all over Europe, experts, academics, media professionals, religious leaders from various origins, representatives of non confessional-communities.
The meeting will be opened by Antonio Miloshoski, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Committee of Ministers, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, President of the Parliamentary Assembly, and Dubravka Šuica, Vice-President of the Congress. Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland will be represented by Gabriella Battaini-Dragoni, Director General of education, culture and heritage, youth and sport, Co-ordinator for intercultural dialogue and for the anti-discrimination campaign.
Introductory statements will be made by the Co-Chairs of the Exchange, Ambassador Guido Bellati Ceccoli, Permanent Representative of San Marino to the Council of Europe and Ambassador Petter Wille, Permanent Representative of Norway to the Council of Europe.
A press conference will take place in the meeting venue on Tuesday 14 September, following the closing session of the exchange (approximately 1 pm). Press briefings can also be organised during the meetings.
