European Commissioner (EC) for Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs in the European Parliament (EP) adopted the resolution for visa liberalization for Albania and Bosnia with 49 votes in favor and 2 abstentions.

European Commissioner (EC) for Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs in the European Parliament (EP) adopted the resolution for visa liberalization for Albania and Bosnia with 49 votes in favor and 2 abstentions.

In this way, the resolution for visa liberalization will be voted by the EP within 2010, and then by the Interior Ministry in the European Union.

On Tuesday’s meeting, the commission voted the opinion of the Foreign Affairs Commission, which says that this process should be carried as soon as possible.

The meeting was also attended by Slovenian Member of European Parliament Tanja Fajon, who said that through the adoption of the resolution, the commission is sending Albania and Bosnia a clear message.

“After the final voting, which will be carried next week, the member countries will give the possibility to finalize the process,” said Fajon.

Earlier, the commission voted the amendment presented by the Dutch Left Wing deputy, Daniel van der Stoep.

According to this amendment, both Albania and Bosnia should withdraw from the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC); only then this regulation for visa liberalization can be applied.

During the voting process, Van Der Stoep’s amendment was rejected with only 2 votes in favor and 49 votes against. Now the resolution will be voted in the EP in the October 6 and 7 parliamentary sessions, and then the final adoption will be carried on November 7 and 8 by the Ministry of Interior Affairs in the EU.
