The State Bureau of Statistics (DZS) has said that the population census will go ahead as scheduled despite some setbacks caused by issues over printing the forms.

The census will take place between 1 April and 28 April of this year.

The first results are expected to be published on 30 June, the portal Monitor writes.

The census will proceed as planned even though none of the bidders for printing the census forms satisfied the paper quality requirements. DZS had decided however, to go with the lowest price bid for acceptable quality.

The State Commission for Supervision of Public Procurement however annulled the decision on the grounds that none of the bidders fully satisfied the competitions’ requirements.

DZS responded that it had to choose the procedure that would enable all actions needed for the census to begin according to the established time frame, the daily writes
