An engine driver was killed and his assistant was injured in a train accident in Zalesina village near Delnice (western Croatia), the Croatian Railways released in a statement Friday.

The accident happened on the Zagreb-Rijeka railway, when a freight train derailed due to a rockslide in front of a tunnel, the Croatian media reported.

During the crash, the engine driver fell out of the locomotive and died on the spot.

According to information, the train did not carry hazardous materials.
