Over 500,000 unemployed people registered in BiH in February

A total of 527,749 unemployed persons were registered in Bosnia-Herzegovina (BiH) in February 2011, which is by 1,048 (0.20 percent) more compared to the previous month.

A total of 527,749 unemployed persons were registered in Bosnia-Herzegovina (BiH) in February 2011, which is by 1,048 (0.20 percent) more compared to the previous month.

A total of 12,443 persons were registered as unemployed for the first time, the Bosnian website business.ba reported.

According to the website, the majority of the unemployed are unskilled workers - about 161,000 (30.6 percent). The number of semi-skilled workers reached about 14,000 (2.67 percent), of skilled workers 187,600 (35.55 percent) and highly-skilled workers 4,125 (0.78 percent).

A total of 2,025 (0.38 percent) of the unemployed have lower education, 128,895 (24.42 percent) have secondary education, 7,275 (1.38 percent) have college and 22,285 (4.22 percent) university education.

Out of the total number of persons seeking employment, 263,477 (42.92 percent) are women, the BiH Labour and Employment Agency released.
