Albania: One dead in explosion in Vlora

Renato Abazi, 39 years old, lost his life from the explosion of the vehicle he was driving in Skele of Vlora. On Thursday, a vehicle exploded close to the trade center in Skela, where two passengers were wounded. One of them is thought to have been a child and the other a passerby.

Renato Abazi, 39 years old, lost his life from the explosion of the vehicle he was driving in Skele of Vlora. On Thursday, a vehicle exploded close to the trade center in Skela, where two passengers were wounded. One of them is thought to have been a child and the other a passerby.

Sources from the hospital informed that none of the wounded persons is at risk for life. The vehicle had an Italian number-plate and it was moving on the moment of the explosion.

After removing the victim and the wounded persons from the vehicle, the car exploded for the second time; the second explosion was much more powerful and as a consequence the windows of the surrounding building broke and another vehicle was damaged.

The firefighters reached the scene at a record time and they were able to extinguish fire. Meanwhile, police forces inspected the vehicle and they gathered evidence, through which they will be able to learn the cause of the explosion and the type of explosive that was used.
