The "Open Cellars" Wine Festival will be held this weekend in Northern Greece, with the wineries of the "Northern Greece Wine Roads" opening their doors to the public from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

"Open Cellars" is an initiative of the European Network of Wine-producing Cities that has become an annual event in Greece in recent years, with every vineyard participating in the initiative creating a wine-themed event, including musical performances or artistic shows.

According to the Association of Wine Producers of Northern Greece, more than 7,000 visitors took part in the events last year, and turnout this year is expected to be much higher.

Of course, a visit to a participating winery includes a guided tour with information on the entire process of making wine, from the vineyard to the end product, taste testing, gifts and many surprises.

The 33 participating wineries are located in Larissa, Epirus, Western Macedonia, Pella, Imathia, Thessaloniki, Halkidiki, Drama, Xanthi and Kavala.
