Twenty years after the declaration of independence, Slovenes seem not to have such a strong feeling of belonging to their state, mainly for economic reasons.
Almost half of Slovenes are ready to join other state, Austria and Switzerland being at the top of their list because of the high standard of living, showed the survey carried out by the Slovenian state television, and the Austrian Press Agency (APA) reported.
Citing a better life as the main reason, 36.4 percent of Slovenes would move abroad instantly, namely 2 out of 3 young Slovenes, and every second highly educated citizen of that country.
Sixty percent of those that are ready to leave Slovenia, would take the foreign citizenship, while one-third of them would renounce the Slovenian passport.
Seventy-two percent of Slovenes underlined that their sense of belonging to the state is not so strong as it was when the independence was declared in 1991.
