"Freedom House" rates FYRMacedonia's democratic development with 3.82 on scale of 1 to 7

"Freedom House", an international non-governmental organisation, in its latest report entitled "Nations in Transit 2011" assesses the democratic development in Macedonia with an average score of 3.82.
"Freedom House", an international non-governmental organisation, in its latest report entitled "Nations in Transit 2011" assesses the democratic development in Macedonia with an average score of 3.82.
"Freedom House" makes the evaluations based on an analysis carried out in seven areas, 1 being the best and 7 the worst score. Macedonia is rated with 3.25 to 4.50 in all separate areas. In the area Electoral Process Macedonia is rated with 3.25 same as in Civil Society. Macedonian media received a score of 4.50 in relation to being independent. National Democratic Governance is rated with 4, Local Democratic Governance with 3.75 and Judiciary and Corruption with 4.
Macedonia's ratings in all areas are the same as in the previous report, except Independent Media, whose rating worsened from 4.25 to 4.50.
In 2010, the average score by "Freedom House" for Macedonia's democratic development was 3.79.
According to the level of democratic development, few countries have better ratings than Macedonia, including Slovenia (1.93), Bulgaria (3.07) and Croatia and Serbia (both 3.64). The country shares the same score with Montenegro (3.82), whereas Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo received lower ratings than Macedonia
