A mini-heat wave is forecast for the coming days in Greece with temperatures rising above 38 degrees Celsius in certain areas.

The main weather characteristics will be high temperatures and humidity, while the summer season exodus of holidaymakers from large urban centres is picking up momentum.

Clear skies are forecast during the weekend with northerly winds of 3-5 Beaufort and locally in the Aegean reaching force eight.

Temperature will rise to 37 degrees Celsius in the mainland and locally in the western part of the country will reach 38 C.

High temperatures will continue on Monday and Tuesday with partly cloudy skies in the northern part of the country during the afternoon hours. Winds will be northerly of force 3-5 and in the Aegean force 5-7.
