Croatia could become a target of terrorists taking advantage of its substantial maritime border and instability still present in some countries that recently experienced a wave of revolutions known as “Arab spring,” Minister of Defence Davor Bozinovic said at the Croatia Summit in Dubrovnik.

Croatia, as a new European Union member, could also play a significant role in stabilising the region, Bozinovic added.
In addition to the security situation, leaders in attendance at the Croatia Summit held in Dubrovnik discussed further EU expansion that could be facing a new standstill. Croatia reaffirmed its commitment to advocate the inclusion of the countries in the region.
But membership without an economic component is not enough, daily Vecernji List writes. Estonian Minister of Foreign Affairs Urmas Paet warned that a stable macroeconomic policy is extremely important for development, and high external debt could pose barriers to attracting foreign investment.
