The debts crisis in Europe will have a negative influence on our country, but it will not have consequences in the Albanian economy. This was the answer of the Prime Minister of Albania to the journalists of the well-known US television, CNBC.
When asked about the effects of the Greek crisis in Albania, Prime Minister Sali Berisha said that many emigrants are returning to Albania, but that they are investing in their home country.
“The debts crisis in Greece and in the European countries does not have positive effects. In my opinion, this is true because nearly one million Albanians work in Greece. Nevertheless, until now I can guarantee that there have not been major negative effects. Firstly, the Greek banks in Albania are performing well. Secondly, Albanians that come from Greece bring with them money and they are investing in new businesses. This working force is returning to Albania, and until now this phenomenon has shown positive effects in two aspects: firstly, many of them are investing in small businesses and secondly, emigrants bring with them their valuable experience; so, Albania should not be concerned about the return of emigrants. Economy is growing and the level of unemployment is decreasing,” said Berisha.
The television, which deals with economic and business issues, showed interest on the performance of banks in the country. Berisha said that the banking market is completely stable and it resisted the pressures of 2009.
“Firstly, the main banks in Europe are not the main shareholders in the banks of Albania. Actually, the banks are performing well and the mother banks are continuing their activity and the level of their work has not decreased. I am optimist that the banks that are not part of the EU will not be affected by the crisis,” said Berisha.
Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha gave a short answer on the dilemma of further support for Greece by the European Union. He said that Greece’s collapse would have a domino effect for all Europe.
Few hours before his interview in CNBC, Berisha was invited to close the working day at the well known NASDAQ Stock Market in Time Square. The Albanian Prime Minister made a short presentation of the Albanian economy during the last 10 years.

Berisha is the same "genius" who told Albanians they're money was safe in Albania's pyramid schemes. In my opinion, he's little more than a corrupt thug who is moving Albania back toward dictatorship.
