Only the Hague and Helsinki oppose Bulgaria and Romania’s Schengen entry. They presented very abstract arguments, Bulgarian Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov said in an interview with Bulgarian National Radio.

The support received today for Bulgaria and Romania’s bid is based on satisfied requirements and this is the only condition for each candidate country, said Polish Interior Minister Jerzy Miller.

When a member state fulfills its commitment and meets all technical requirements in order to guarantee the security of the EU’s external border, of course, a decision about its membership should be made very quickly, said Minister Tsvetanov.

The Polish EU presidency has suggested a solution – lifting control at air and sea borders as of October 31, Bulgaria joins the Schengen Area and making a decision about land borders around June 2012 due to migration pressure, he added.
