About 70 000 Bulgarian citizens reside currently in the UK, according to Bulgaria's Ambassador in London Lyubomir Kyuchukov.
Kyuchukov told the Bulgarian National Radio Thursday that after Bulgaria was admitted to the EU in 2007, the number of Bulgarian students in Britain saw the greatest rise.
"There is a pretty large group of Bulgarian students, probably about 4 000, who study in prestigious British universities," the Bulgarian Ambassador to the UK is quoted as saying.
"There are many Bulgarians who work in the science field – professors at scientific institutions – as well as many working in the service sector – construction, medicine, banking. And a not so small a group of Bulgarians are trying to develop their own businesses here," he added.
According to Ambassador Kyuchukov, finding a good job is a major problem for the Bulgarians living in Britain.
The UK will keep its labor market closed for Bulgarians until the final deadline set in Bulgaria's EU accession treaty – 2014
