The provisional results of the Housing and Population Census conducted in October will be made public on February 6, 2012 and the preliminary results will be announced on May 23, 2012, the National Statistics Institute (INS) informs.

The final results of the census will be presented "beginning with Q1 2013," reads a release of the Central Committee on the 2011 Housing and Population Census.

The Central Committee examined last week the current state of the organization and carrying out of the 2011 Census and approved the updated program for the collection of the instruments (unused questionnaire papers and annexes), data feeding into the Census database, data control and correction, information aggregation and the generation of presentation tables, the validation and dissemination of results.

Data introduction into the central records and the verification thereof are currently underway, the cited release mentions.

In connection with the 2011 Housing and Population Census, the most recent INS public statement said that 8,387,153 homes and 19,599,506 persons were registered, those who used the self-registration method excluded. The census was conducted in 3,180 localities and the six sectors of Bucharest.
