Unemployment in Bulgaria reached 10.1%

Average registered unemployment in Bulgaria for 2011 is 10.1 percent. This level is by 0.4 percent lower than the expected unemployment level (10.5%) mapped out in the National plan of action concerning unemployment.

The figures are given by the Agency on Employment. The level of unemployment has been gradually going down throughout the year starting from 11 percent in January and February to 9.4 percent in September.

However levels go up over the next few months, reaching 10.4 percent in December 2011, but that phenomenon is quite usual. Mass layoffs have decreased by about 25 percent on 2010 and 3.3 times compared to 2009.
