A total of 11,541 red chairs have been lined up in rows along Sarajevo's main street - one for every citizen killed during the Bosnian war, exactly 20th years after its beginning.
The several hundred meters long "Sarajevo Red Line" commemorates the siege of Sarajevo's anniversary, and window shops in downtown display placards of various manifestations that were held during the four years of the war.
The conflict, which lasted from 1992 to 1995, left an estimated 200,000 people killed and some 2.7 million refugees and internally displaced, UNHCR's data show.
This was the largest displacement in Europe since World War II, UNHCR stated.
