Bank crediting has decreased in all East European countries, members of the EU, with the exception of Bulgaria, economists from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development have announced.

In February this year the European Central Bank granted low interest 3-year credits to 800 European banks at the overall value of EUR 529.5 billion.

These credits helped reduce the sovereign risk in East Europe but their direct impact was restricted because they did not reach the banks in the region, the experts point out.

Meanwhile savings in East Europe gave increased compared to their levels before the crisis.
