The expected yield in the Strumica – Gevgelija region comes to around 550,000 watermelons from plantation of 30 ha in area

New watermelon variety, bambolino, will be exported to the UK market for the first time.

The picking and repurchase are underway, with the price ranging from MKD 12 to 15 per kilo. The expected yield in the Strumica – Gevgelija region comes to around 550,000 watermelons from plantation of 30 ha in area.

The repurchase of the traditional watermelon varieties is also underway in the Strumica region. The price dropped two times compared to the beginning of the season, coming to MKD 3 to 4, depending on the quality.

Around 13,000 watermelons have been purchased so far. This year, the expected yield is 50,000 ton, but the high temperatures might disturb the plans.
