Rautakirja invests for development of its own chain store in Romania

Finnish retail group Rautakirja will invest, in the 2008-2009 period, some 4 million euro to develop its own chain retail store in Romania, under the R-kiosk brand, the company announced.
Finnish retail group Rautakirja - the majority shareholder of Hiparion Distribution - will invest, in the 2008-2009 period, some 4 million euro to develop its own chain retail store in Romania, under the R-kiosk brand, the company announced in a Monday's release for Agerpres.
The strategic plans of the company provide for opening 30 R-kiosk shops in 2008, and over 100 by the end of 2009
. The stores will be located within some shopping malls. The mix of product will include the best selection of press and tobacco in Romania, characteristic products to kiosks (drinks, snacks, sweets) pre-paid cards, books, CDs, DVD and lottery tickets.
Hiparion Distribution was set up in 1999 and in 2004 Rautakirja Oy became its majority shareholder.
Hiparion Distribution and R-kiosk are part of the Finnish company Rautakirja Oy, market leader in terms of kiosks, press distribution and cinemas in Finland and Baltic Countries.
It also tops the market of bookshops in Finland and Estonia, and the Dutch market of press distribution. The group has some 20,000 employees, and its net sales in 2007 amounted to 2.92bn euro.
