Traditional Chinese clothes, paper cuttings and photos depicting the history of China are displayed at an extended exhibit "Chinese Culture", which will run through Oct. 15 in the Museum of FYRMacedonia.
The exhibit marks 60 years since the foundation of the People's Republic of China and is organised by the Museum of Macedonia and the embassy of China in Skopje. Chinese Ambassador Dong Chunfeng and Museum's director Meri Anicin-Pejovska opened the exhibition.
- This exhibition gives a rare oportunity for the public in Macedonia to be introduced with a distant, vast and mystical country, one of the oldest civilisations in the world, stated Anicin-Pejovska.
Speaking at the event in Macedonian before numerous guests, Ambassador Chunfeng said culture was the spirit of the people and history of the civilisation.
- Through the exhibition, the people in Macedonia will be acquainted with China and will be able to witness the historic changes in the past six decades since the establishment of PR China.
The exhibition of traditional costumes presents a part of the enormous etnological richness of China, while boards of paper cutting in Jianzhi technique are also displayed. This ancient technique is 1.500 years old and is an inseparable part of China's folklore and customs.
