Serbia visited by 11 percent less tourists

In 2009 Serbia was visited by 2.01 million tourists, which is 11 percent less than in 2008, announced the Serbian Tourist Board.

In 2009 Serbia was visited by 2.01 million tourists, which is 11 percent less than in 2008, announced the Serbian Tourist Board.

Domestic guests added up to 63 percent of all guests, which signifies a 15 percent drop on last year, while the number of foreign tourists remained the same.

Serbia reported 6.77 million bed nights or 8 percent less than in 2008. Domestic tourists generated 76 percent of all bed nights, which corresponds to an 11 percent drop on 2008.

At the same time foreign tourists reported a 5 percent up in the number of bed nights in comparison to 2008.
