Pakistan is not changing its principled stand that the self-proclaimed independence of Kosovo is unacceptable, Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić said after talks with Pakistani PM Jusuf Raza Gilani and Foreign Minister Makdum Kureshi in Islamabad.

The two countries share an opinion that all the international disputes must be resolved by peaceful means by reaching compromise-based solutions.

Pointing out that Pakistan is a nuclear power, the second largest Muslim country and a very influential state, not only in the Islamic world, Jeremic said the continuation of this country’s support to Belgrade’s efforts to find a compromise-based solution on the future status of Kosmet is very important for Serbia.

He had talks with the highest Pakistani officials on the promotion of cooperation and on joint battle against organized crime and terrorism.

Next year, Serbia is planning to open an embassy in Islamabad, Jeremic said.
