FAP to produce first Chinese truck by year's end

Representatives of Chinese DongFeng Commercial Vehicle will arrive in Serbia next week to discuss the steps that have to be made to this effect, said Head of the FAP Development Sector Miroslav Matovic.

Serbia's truck-maker Fabrika Automobila Proboj (FAP) will start assembling Chinese trucks by the end of the year, reports ANSAmed news agency.

Representatives of Chinese DongFeng Commercial Vehicle will arrive in Serbia next week to discuss the steps that have to be made to this effect, said Head of the FAP Development Sector Miroslav Matovic.

He said that an agreement on business technical cooperation will be signed till May 25, and that the action plan will be drafted by the end of the year.

The scope of production will depend on the market, but the trucks will be competitive, since their price will be 30% lower than in other parts of Europe, he added.
