The Bosnia-Herzegovina (BIH) Interior Ministry has published information that in three BIH cantons in 2009 there were 125 attacks mounted on Serb returnees and their property.

Most incidents, 121 of them, took place in the Tuzla canton. Serb returnees in the BIH Federation live in a poor security system, as everyone can throw a bomb on their houses, demolish their tombs and the police is doing nothing to protect the Serbs and their property, BIH Deputy Parliament Speaker Dušanka Majkić said.

She said Serbs in the BIH Federation were the most discriminated population category, that many of them lived in fear and without basic living conditions, such as water or electricity.

Not only Serb returnees, but also Serbs that lived in BIH throughout the war, are in a very difficult position, as, due to discrimination and threats in BIH, they move to Republika Srpska or to Serbia, she said.
