By decree of the Serbian president, Miroljub Zaric has been appointed as ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the Republic of Albania, it was announced in the new Official Gazette.

Zaric is the first Serbian ambassador to Tirana, where he had led the Serbian mission as charge d'affaires since 2006. Belgrade and Tirana broke diplomatic relations during the NATO bombing in April 1999 and reestablished them in January 2001.
The first ambassador of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia at the time was Cafo Kapetanovic (2001-2003) and then Marko Camaj (2004-2006).
