The National Assembly adopted two decisions on the participation of up to 134 members of the Defence Ministry, Ministry of the Interior and the Serbian army (VS) in multinational operations this year.
The National Assembly adopted two decisions on the participation of up to 134 members of the Defence Ministry, Ministry of the Interior and the Serbian army (VS) in multinational operations this year.
By adopting these two decisions, the MPs approved the participation of Serbian military forces in a total of eight peacekeeping missions, as envisaged by the annual plan of engagement of the VS and other defence forces in multinational operations in 2010.
Members of Serbian Defence Ministry and VS will take part in six peacekeeping missions, while the Interior Ministry will participate in another two operations, the plan notes.
The document also specifies that up to 98 members of the Defence Ministry and army, as well as up to 36 members of the Interior Ministry, will take part in UN peacekeeping missions.
According to this plan, members of the Serbian defence system will participate in the UN peacekeeping missions in Congo, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Chad, Lebanon and Cyprus, while Serbian police forces will take part in operations in Liberia and Haiti.
