Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Regional Development Mladjan Dinkic announced that multinational company Panasonic will build a new factory in Svilajnac and that the first competition for vacancies for engineers will be in July.
Touring the industrial zone in Svilajnac, Dinkic said that the company Reum GmbH already has its facilities there for the production of plastic parts for air conditioners in cars for export to Germany and other EU countries.
This company is a renowned manufacturer of plastic components and automated control systems in cars, Dinkic highlighted noting that Reum GmbH has four factories in Germany and one in the Czech Republic.
The Deputy Prime Minister confirmed that Panasonic will begin works on 15 October, noting that for the time being, it will rent some of the halls from Reum GmbH and afterwards construct a facility of its own.
Dinkic explained that based on all agreements which the government and the municipality of Svilajnac have signed with investors in this area, as many as 1,000 workers will find jobs in the industrial zone there, noting that this will help the Ministry to achieve its fundamental goal, ie an increase in employment.
He voiced the belief that once Panasonic arrives in Serbia, other companies in the electronics sector will also see Serbia as a favourable investment target, the Ministry says in a statement.
