Church bells and prayer service for solving Kosovo status

On the day of the announcement of the opinion of the International Court of Justice about the legality of the declaration of Kosovo's independence, bells will be sounded on churches of the Serbian Orthodox Church and clergy will then perform a prayer service for a favorable solution to the final status of Kosovo and Metohija, it was announced on the web-site of the Serbian Orthodox Church on July 20.

On the day of the announcement of the opinion of the International Court of Justice about the legality of the declaration of Kosovo's independence, bells will be sounded on churches of the Serbian Orthodox Church and clergy will then perform a prayer service for a favorable solution to the final status of Kosovo and Metohija, it was announced on the web-site of the Serbian Orthodox Church on July 20.

The bells will be sounded on Thursday, July 22 at 5:00 p.m. for five minutes and then priests will perform the prayer service in congregational and town temples.

In the statement of the Synod of the Serbian Orthodox Church, signed by Patriarch Irinej as the chairman of the Synod, the arch-hierarchs are asked to "invite the priests and the faithful for bells to be sounded in all temples for five minutes, on July 22 at 5:00 p.m. and for prayer services to be held in congregational and town temples after the sounding of bells, for the favorable solution to the final status of Kosovo and Metohija."
