The onshore section of the South Stream gas pipeline is planned to enter Serbia's territory in the vicinity of Zajecar, Tanjug learned at the information service of the Russian company Gazprom, which rules out the possibility of Russia making up its mind at the last minute and giving up the pipeline construction.

It was also said at Gazprom that only the options for the location of the pipeline exit route out of Serbia are being discussed, and it was underscored that the final route of the South Stream gas pipeline will be set after the study on technical and economic justification is completed, which is due in the fourth quarter of this year.

So far, we have successfully resolved all issues regarding the realization of the South Stream project, Gazprom representatives underlined, adding that there are no disagreements on the South Stream route across Serbia's territory.

The international, regional gas pipeline South Stream will run under the Black Sea from the Russian coast to the Bulgarian coast, and will then split into two sections - towards Greece and Italy, and across Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia and Hungary, to Austria.

The planned capacity of the onshore section of the pipeline is 63 billion cubic meters of natural gas a year.
