Employees of the Telekom Kosmet and special units of the Kosmet police are removing and destroying the base stations of land-line and mobile phone lines, belonging to the Telekom Serbia, in areas inhabited by the Serbs. Several times this year the Kosmet authorities have been disabling the facilities of mobile phone providers from Serbia, claiming they have no working license.

Employees of the Telekom Kosmet and special units of the Kosmet police are removing and destroying the base stations of land-line and mobile phone lines, belonging to the Telekom Serbia, in areas inhabited by the Serbs.

Coordinator of the technical unit in Kosmet Ilija Ivanovic has told TANJUG that this morning the transmitters have been disabled in Gracanica, Strpce and Kosovsko Pomoravlje region, where land lines have been cut off as well.

According to him, the damage is huge and the destruction is performed under strong police security. At the moment, the Serb citizens in the Province are in a very difficult position, added Ivanovic.

According to latest information, the employees of the Kosmet Telekom have been heading towards Zubin Potok, in northern Kosmet. Municipal President Slavisa Ristic has stated that the citizens will defend the transmitters and have notified KFOR and EULEX about it.

Several times this year the Kosmet authorities have been disabling the facilities of mobile phone providers from Serbia, claiming they have no working license.

State Secretary for Kosmet Oliver Ivanovic has stated that the action of disconnecting Serbian phone operators in the Province is destabilizing the Serb community and could lead into jeopardy the commencement of negotiations on Kosmet.

Ivanovic says the Albanians have not set off to destroy the transmitters on their own, but they have support from part of the international community that is interested to prevent the Belgrade-Pristina dialog from starting. Today’s events in Kosmet are a bad introduction to the announced talks, underlined Ivanovic.
