Acting Kosovo President Jakup Krasniqi said on Sept. 27 that there would "not be an institutional vacuum" in Kosovo following the resignation of President Fatmir Sejdiu.

Krasniqi said that in cooperation with ruling and opposition parties he would prepare elections. At a press conference he said that he would call political party representatives to consultations over the coming days.

Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci said that he valued the "statesmanlike act" of Kosovo President Fatmir Sejdiu and that the decisions of Kosovo's institutions would be in line with the constitution and laws of Kosovo.
