Serbia’s JAT Airways to borrow 51.5 mln Euro, eyes new aircraft leases

JAT Airways signed a credit agreement with Societe Generale and UniCredit Bank on September 20 with the Serbian government acting as the loan guarantor, B92 (www.b92.net) said, not naming its source.

Serbian flag carrier JAT Airways will borrow a combined 51.5 million euro ($69.5 million) to revive its Business and ensure funding for engine repairs and new aircraft leases, Belgrade-based broadcaster B92 reported on Tuesday.

JAT Airways signed a credit agreement with Societe Generale and UniCredit Bank on September 20 with the Serbian government acting as the loan guarantor, B92 (www.b92.net) said, not naming its source.

French banking group Societe Generale and Italy’s UniCredit both have operations in Serbia.

The agreement is pending approval in parliament.
