The situation in Tirana is calm at the moment, and the Albanian police have acted professionally by stopping the threat to property and lives of the employees in the Serbian Embassy, after the Albanian hooligans  burnt the Serbian flag in front of the embassy building, stated Ambassador Miroljub Zaric.

He assessed as indicative that there have been no official reactions of Albanian institutions and politicians, nor was the incident condemned.

Zaric has specified that the first incident took place in downtown Tirana, where a group of dozen or so hooligans had gathered to shout the words of support to Kosmet independence.

They burnt a Serbian flag they had brought with them, and confronted the police. Yesterday, more than 200 hooligans have tried again to gather in front of the embassy, but the police stopped them, pointed Zaric, while adding that those hooligans then went to another part of the town, in front of his residence, and burnt another flag.

I think you'll find that these are NOT Albanian hooligans. They are very upset because of the Serbians who FIRST burned an Albanian flag in Italy (Italy vs Serbia European Qualifier).

I wonder if the Serbian Ambassador ever thought of offering an apology before he even thinks about pronouncing himself on Albanian protesters. Tadic and he must apologise to the Albanian Prime Minister as they did to the Italian one...

As an Albanian myself, I have to disagree with you. These ARE hooligans. Is the proper reaction to do the same awful thing the Serbians did at a soccer game? Upset or not, you must act above that and not stoop to their level. This wad a good opportunity for Albanians to show how it's people are a strong, proud group. This small group who burned the flag jeapordizes this.

Lets just say...SERBS have proven to be the most uncivilized people of Europe if not the world. First and foremost why burn an Albanian flag in Italy? makes no sense. If the serb government wants peace in that region, they must first apologize to Albania for what happen on tuesday, but I truly think that serbian officials are more criminal than the hooligans themselves. Serbia shouldn't be allowed to always cause all this trouble in Europe, Nato should just bomb their asses again and again, until all these criminals and uncivilized kind exist no more.

By burning the Serbian flag in front of the embassy in their capital city, Albanians just showed they are no better than those Serb hooligans we saw in Genoa the other day.
Additionally, it just shows they need any little trigger in order to be attacking anything to do with Serbia.
Got to give the props to the efficiency of Albanian police in stopping the incident from escalation.
I can't agree with some of the below posters who demand apology from the Serbian president, it was not that much of an incident - it happens all the time.
