Serbia got its first Defence White Paper in 2009, which is a Defence Ministry document on the development of the national defence system and its relations with the surrounding countries.

The text presents the Serbian people and the world with the achievements and plans regarding the development of the country's defence.

Defence Minister Dragan Sutanovac says that the document connects the past, describes the present and gives a realistic projection of the future.

By preserving its own tradition and implementing the practices of the best armies in the world, Serbia is creating a vision of its own defence system, Sutanovac noted.

The vision of the defence system is based on a vision of a modern Serbia, a member of the EU and a part of the international security system.

The armed forces are a natural part of that, and their strength can guarantee stability and peace within the region and the world.
